B&W... Shades of Color from the Ranch

Really...Amazing and pretty. Some pics of Dakota Ice Art that Robin took this morning.
Thank you God for giving me the gift of sight to enjoy these beautiful formations.

Latch on and Grow

I like this picture that Robin captured. How many times I have walked through a doorway or under tree limbs only to be greeted by a nearly invisible cobweb... I start flailing in the air and wiping the sticky slimy matter from my face and clothes. However, this morning-glory that has been climbing our clothesline post found the opportunity of reaching out and growing in a most surprising fashion. Perhaps there is a lesson here. Rather than be entangled in the annoyances of life that come our way... and be certain that they will, look for opportunity to latch on and grow and share beauty in ways that only God is able to provide.

I Always Said...

I always said..."A good horse, a good dog and a good woman sure helps make a good ranch." (Not necessarily in that order, because I started saying that before I was married to Robin:)

Note…. I know Danny has a good horse or two… a couple of good dogs…. and he is patient on the rest of the equation.

I have to admit... this is nearly a dream. A beautiful palomino quarter horse in the branding pen with a bunch of Hereford calves that will soon be wearing the Lonetree brand that has been part of family for generations.

A Bit of Poetry - Matthew 5

Just thought I would share my thoughts on Matthew 5 in a bit of poetry

Keep the vanity of earthly trophy

And the accolades of mankind.

Kindle not the fire within me

That forges deceit in heart and mind.

Make no room for arrogance and pride;

Only mournful for my sinful state.

For in repentance and redemption,

Burden and anxiety need not be my fate.

As I walk in life’s daily journey

And with each challenge that I face;

I wonder how the “meek” survive

How they ever will complete the race.

Ah yes, it is not my strength that I depend.

It is not power that is coupled with self-pride.

For humility is not weak and powerless,

But rather strength by God tested, true and tried.

Oh Lord, may your Word always be my course.

And may Your virtue forever be my desire.

And may I show mercy to the merciless.

And in gratitude I will stay true under fire.

Today, I pray to be pure in heart

Even though I may be covered in grime.

May I share with others your insurmountable peace,

The peace that stands far above the test of time.

Thank you Lord for being my Father.

I enjoy your presence in the passing of each day.

And even the midst discouragement and trial

You provide hope and strength along the way.

The Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount as Spoken by Jesus Christ and recorded in Matthew chapter 5

***

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,

For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,

For they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,

For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

For they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
