Chore light

Chore Light... I have generally thought that we were average folks. And we are. But the lifestyle that we live is hardly normal. Few experience the warm light in an old barn at dusk. Sadly few youth today have "real chores" that present life lessons. This is and has been a familiar scene for nearly 86 years in the barn on the Lonetree Ranch. Likewise on farms and ranches around the region during this busy calving season, it is seen as well. Cherish the opportunity and or memories of this experience and look for ways that you may share it with others. The impact of these life lessons cannot be framed and hung on a wall but are rather entrenched in the heart.

Thoughts

To "attract attention" is often far from being attractive. Many stunts and ploys are used to get attention. I find it very concerning that many will compromise their "presentation of themselves" only to lose dignity as the finest of God's creation and then to struggle to get it back again. Overall, our "presentation" will impact the effectiveness of our "proclamation" as well. Certainly, who we are is more than skin deep. That is what our proclamation is based on. Yes...God looks at the heart... For which I am grateful. However, what is in the heart will reflect in how we "attract attention" as well.

Emmanuel's Land

Whenever I see this scene, I am reminded of a section from the classic, "Pilgrim's Progress.

"These mountains are Emmanuel’s land, and they are within sight of His city; and the sheep also are His, and He laid down his life for them."

The reflective light across the hills just "hint" of the light of God. Another fun fact...Emanuel Reinhold, my grandpa, use to call this home..."Emanuel's Land.

Psalm 146:3-10 3

Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them- he remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 16

Keep me safe, my God,

for in you I take refuge.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

apart from you I have no good thing.”

I keep my eyes always on the Lord.

With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

You make known to me the path of life;

you will fill me with joy in your presence,

with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

From Psalm 16 (A Psalm of David)

The Horse

Not measured in seconds,
On well groomed arena ground
Certainly not with an audience
In fact no one may be around.

A tender of God's creatures
a steward of life and the land
Challenges come to the stockman.
Faith and trust gives strength to stand.

Certainly not for everyone
For those that have taken the course
Realize with praise and gratitude
That God created for man the horse.
