We just finished supper after a long day of fencing and working outside. "Yes...It is 9:45 PM." However a special treat (popovers) awaited us. Robin had the family sit down and Grandpa was here, too. She said, "When Jesus died, they buried Him in a tomb" and Kiersten and Julia chimed in and said, "And they rolled a big stone in front of it." Robin continued, " But three days later... the tomb was opened and Jesus was no longer found within, for He is alive!" She then had each of us open our popover and yes they were empty...

What a pleasant and thought provoking meal. Truly a blessing. We are thankful for what Christ did upon the cross and we are forever grateful that Jesus did not stay dead.

Robin finished off our supper with a fresh homemade strawberry pie. We are tired after a good day and we truly have been blessed.

This peach pie that Robin made was more than dessert. It really tells the story of the weekend. The cross has become to many a piece of jewelry... an emblem... or just a marker by a grave. It is the empty tomb where the stone is rolled away and the body was no longer there. The resurrection is the proof. Yes Christ died for me... He was raised from the dead and He lives... Yes... I will live for Him.

Robin... Nice job on the pie.

Father's Day Pie

I thought I would post this pic for those that think I am just plain spoiled...

***

It is true.

A banana cream pie and a strawberry pie for Father's Day. Sorry... we did not dress up... The day was getting rather long.... you know... the day before the third week of camp. Oh yes, we did get a little less than a half inch of rain. Grateful.

Planting Potatoes

A little later than normal for us... We planted potatoes at "The Patch", one of four different garden sites on the ranch. The other Gardens are "Robin's Garden", Pathfinder Garden and Rachel has her Pumpkin Patch. Family and team effort for certain...

Praying for rain... we would love to see some running water to help with the low level of our stock ponds.

VEGETABLE SOUP AND HOMEMADE BREAD

Oh yes... the soup and homemade bread. So good on a cold evening.

Good job Robin Lee.

Beef and Vegetable soup... Homemade...Smelling so delicious.

And also a treat... Taking those good soup bones and spooning out the marrow to put on crackers. Can't do that with Campbells soup... which doesn't come close. I remember doing this with my dad and brothers... I don't remember... Lana Morris ... did you like this? Anyone else do this?

Robin's Mom

I so appreciate this scene... Robin's mom, Ellen Paulton, brought strawberry plants from her garden today and Robin and her transplanted them into "Robin's Garden". It is so neat to see these two ladies enjoying fellowship around something that they so enjoy doing. Grandma Paulton is an extraordinary lady. I could never tell a "mother in law joke" ... but I have numerous "mother in law stories". We are so blessed.

Feed The Race Horses

"GOT TO FEED THE RACE HORSES!"

We have been putting in some long hours and tonight was reason to have a great meal. I prepared New York Strip on the grill and Robin made biscuits and broccoli in cheese sauce.

"AND WHAT ABOUT THE HORSES?"

Whether it be family members putting in extra long hours or staff members that give all they have... this has been our maxim. For years I have had the privilege of working with dedicated and talented young people... the sort of people that give above and beyond nearly all the time. Yes I am blessed and I grateful to work with them. A few year back after a particularly long and difficult day, Robin and I were discussing our appreciation of our team as well as meal possibilities. I told Robin, "Our crew is no different than high performance horses, and yes, I have high expectations and yes... they come through. And yes we have "GOT TO FEED THE RACE HORSES!"

BY THE WAY... LONETREE HEREFORD BEEF ... IT IS WHAT IS FOR SUPPER.

Splendid Meal

Robin prepared the family a splendid meal for supper this St. Patrick's Day. It is so enjoyable to gather as a family to eat and fellowship together. High priority for our family every day. We ate all the corned beef, most of the cabbage, nearly all the soda bread, enjoyed a very tasty salad and the cookies were disappearing like wildfire. We missed you Molly and Grandpa. First St. Patrick's day without you around the table.

Christmas Eve Tradition

The preparations for our Christmas Eve Supper becomes family business. The Swedish lineage still carries through the generations. I prepared the Lutefisk with a white sauce and Robin made homemade bread. Of course the cook must taste test. Dad came down and ate with us. A special time for certain.
